Subscription Overview

The initial public offering (IPO) of Lumino Industries, an integrated EPC and manufacturing company focused on power transmission and distribution, closed on 31 August after seeing robust demand from investors. According to data from the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the issue was subscribed 104.62 times by the final day of bidding. The qualified institutional buyers (QIB) category saw the highest demand, with the portion subscribed 211.25 times, while the non-institutional investor (NII) portion was booked 155.41 times. Retail investors subscribed 25.88 times, and the employee portion was subscribed 8.95 times.

Earlier on the final day, at 10:10 am, the issue was subscribed 6.4 times, with bids received for over 40.47 crore equity shares against 6.32 crore shares on offer, as reported by Moneycontrol. Demand at that point was led by non-institutional investors, whose portion was subscribed 12.53 times, with the retail portion at 7.59 times.

Offer Details and Grey Market Premium

The IPO comprised a fresh issue of up to ₹500 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of up to ₹200 crore by promoters Devendra Goel and Jay Goel, according to Livemint and The Hindu Business Line. The price band was set at ₹78–₹82 per equity share, with a lot size of 182 shares.

In the grey market, shares were commanding a premium of ₹61, according to InvestorGain, as reported by Moneycontrol. Based on this premium and the upper end of the price band, the indicative listing price works out to ₹143, implying a potential listing gain of 74.39 percent. Livemint also reported the GMP at +61, noting that the estimated listing price of ₹143 apiece reflects a 74.39% premium over the IPO price. The grey market premium is an unofficial indicator and can change before listing; it does not guarantee the actual listing price or returns, as noted by Moneycontrol.

Anchor Investment and Use of Proceeds

Ahead of the issue opening, Lumino Industries raised ₹207 crore from anchor investors, allotting over 2.52 crore equity shares at ₹82 per share, the upper end of the price band, according to a circular available on the BSE website, as reported by Livemint. Moneycontrol also confirmed the anchor investment of ₹207 crore.

From the net proceeds of the fresh issue, ₹337 crore will be used for repayment or prepayment of borrowings, and ₹15 crore will be allocated for capital expenditure, including the purchase of equipment and machinery, civil works, and interior development of an existing manufacturing facility, as reported by The Hindu Business Line and Moneycontrol. The remaining proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

The company's manufacturing facilities are located in Howrah, West Bengal, as noted by Moneycontrol.

Brokerage Recommendations

Several brokerages have assigned positive ratings to the IPO. SBI Securities assigned a 'Subscribe' rating, noting an issue valuation of 6 times FY26 earnings, as reported by Livemint. Kantilal Chhaganlal Securities also assigned a 'Subscribe' rating, highlighting an EBITDA margin of around 12%, a return on capital employed (ROCE) of 24%, and a return on equity (ROE) of 22%.

Swastika Investmart said the IPO could appeal to investors seeking listing gains but flagged dependence on government and PSU clients, which account for 53%–86% of revenue, according to Livemint.

Key Dates

The tentative allotment date is 1 September, with refunds and demat credits on 2 September, and listing on the BSE and NSE on 3 September, as reported by Livemint. The book-running lead manager is Motilal Oswal Investment Advisors, with Bigshare Services as the registrar, according to Livemint. Moneycontrol also listed Motilal Oswal Investment Advisors and Monarch Networth Capital as merchant bankers.
