Elliott heads to Spain on loan
Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has joined Valencia on a season-long loan, with the 23-year-old travelling to Spain to complete the move ahead of his potential debut against Barcelona on Sunday, according to reports.
Sports Mole, citing journalist Matteo Moretto, reported that Liverpool have agreed a deal with Valencia for Elliott to spend the campaign in La Liga, with the two clubs finalising paperwork on a loan that does not contain an option to buy. Elliott has already arrived in Spain to undergo his medical and is set to be unveiled by Carlos Corberan's side, linking up with his new teammates before the weekend's clash with Barcelona at the Mestalla.
The move follows a difficult period for the former England Under-21 international, who has not made a first-team appearance for Liverpool since the early days of the 2025/26 campaign. Elliott, who signed for Liverpool in 2019, spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he started only one Premier League match. Villa attempted to cancel the loan in January but could not reach an agreement with Liverpool, and Elliott returned to Anfield with a Europa League winners' medal.
The Evening Standard reported that Elliott was not named in the matchday squad for either of Andoni Iraola's first two league fixtures as Liverpool manager. Valencia finished ninth in La Liga last season but have made a slow start to the current campaign, sitting 16th in the table with one point from their opening three fixtures.
Speaking on his arrival in Spain, Elliott said: "This is an incredible club. I'm really thankful for the opportunity. I'm going to give everything I have for Valencia."
Loan terms and contract situation
Reports from both Sports Mole and the Evening Standard describe the loan as a straight deal with no option or obligation to buy. The Evening Standard added that Liverpool are covering a portion of Elliott's wages for the duration of the loan.
Elliott remains under contract at Liverpool until 2028, though he has now spent consecutive seasons away from the club on loan. His departure forms part of a quiet deadline day for Liverpool, who confirmed the arrival of France and Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola on Monday in a nine-figure deal.
Bajcetic completes permanent move to Celta Vigo
Elliott's move to Spain follows that of his Liverpool teammate Stefan Bajcetic, who has completed a permanent transfer to Celta Vigo, as reported by Sports Mole. The 21-year-old midfielder has returned to the Galician club five-and-a-half years after leaving for Liverpool.
Bajcetic, who had loan spells at Red Bull Salzburg and Las Palmas, was restricted to just 22 first-team appearances for Liverpool, with injuries hindering his progress. His transfer to Celta Vigo is understood to be a permanent deal, marking the end of his time on Merseyside.
