Liverpool have opened talks with Genk over a potential move for teenage goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri on X. The 18-year-old, who stands 6ft 7in, is also on Bayern Munich's radar, as reported by the same outlet and the Liverpool Echo.

Brughmans has made 15 senior appearances for Genk and started each of their first four league games this season, per Transfermarkt. Football Talent Scout's Jacek Kulig described him as a 'highly talented graduate' of Genk's academy, which has also produced Thibaut Courtois, Koen Casteels and Mike Penders. Brughmans has kept six clean sheets in his senior outings and has 25 caps for Belgium at youth level.

The Liverpool Echo reported that the club's Global Talent department has identified Brughmans as a 'potential star', though they clarified that the Reds are not looking to sign him before tomorrow night's deadline, instead viewing him as a future prospect.

The interest in Brughmans comes amid uncertainty over the goalkeeping position at Anfield. Alisson Becker turns 34 in a few weeks and is in the final year of his contract. Giorgi Mamardashvili arrived from Valencia last year as a long-term replacement for the Brazilian, but the 25-year-old has not entirely convinced some Liverpool fans in his first season, having made 20 appearances in the last campaign.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest have made an enquiry about Mamardashvili's availability before the transfer deadline. Freddie Woodman is considered capable of deputising if needed, though no deal has been confirmed.

Liverpool are also reportedly working on other targets, including attacking reinforcements Bradley Barcola and Ismaila Sarr, while there are concerns over the form of Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong in the opening two fixtures of the season.
