Liverpool optimistic over Barcola as PSG discuss compromise
Liverpool are hopeful of concluding a deal for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola before the transfer window closes on September 1, with PSG reportedly open to compromising on their asking price. The 23-year-old France international has been left out of PSG's squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Rennes, following his omission from the French Super Cup defeat to Lens, fueling speculation that a move is imminent.
According to reports, Liverpool have made Barcola their number one target for the attacking line, and personal terms are not expected to be an issue. However, the two clubs remain apart on valuation, with PSG initially demanding £145 million before lowering their asking price to around £120 million, a figure that would make Barcola the second most expensive signing in Liverpool's history behind Alexander Isak.
PSG's stance and squad changes
PSG's willingness to sell has been attributed to their summer reinforcements. The French champions have brought in Ferran Torres, Mika Godts, and Maghnes Akliouche, all of whom were included in the squad for the Rennes match. With Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Desire Doue also retained, opportunities for Barcola appear limited.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi offered a cryptic update on the situation, saying, "We're working calmly. We don't talk too much. We get things done." Meanwhile, French journalist Fabrice Hawkins has indicated that there is no appetite at PSG to keep Barcola, and that a deal could be struck if certain conditions are met.
Liverpool's other targets
Alongside Barcola, Liverpool have also pursued PSG's 18-year-old forward Ibrahim Mbaye, who was left out of the squad for Rennes alongside Barcola. Reports suggest Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Mbaye, though the club's priority has since shifted to Brighton's Yankuba Minteh.
Liverpool have seen bids of £50 million and £60 million for Minteh rejected by Brighton, who value the Gambia international at close to £70 million. The Reds are considering a third offer, but Minteh's fitness is a concern, as he underwent leg surgery over the summer and may not be fit until November.
In addition, Liverpool have been linked with Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr, who has a remarkable record of seven goals in 10 appearances against the Reds. According to Turkish reporter Nevzat Dindar, Galatasaray are also interested in Sarr, who reportedly wants to leave Palace. The 28-year-old is valued at around £50 million, though he would fall outside Liverpool's typical age profile.

Arsenal could re-enter the race for Barcola if the deal between Liverpool and PSG continues to stall, according to reports citing sources with ties to the agents industry. The Gunners have been kept informed of developments and could "aggressively" enter the conversation, with Barcola reportedly open to a move to London. Liverpool view Barcola's maximum worth at £120 million, while PSG are demanding £130 million up front plus £15 million in add-ons, according to those reports.
Liverpool's squad situation
