KTR calls for State-wide protests from September 2 on ‘govt. failures’

Introduction

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) will launch a week-long, state-wide campaign across Telangana from September 2 to highlight the Congress government's alleged failures and unfulfilled promises as it completes 1,000 days in office. Party working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) issued directions to senior party leaders, elected representatives and the state committee during a teleconference on Sunday, according to multiple reports.

Campaign Details

The campaign, described by the party as a major initiative, aims to expose what BRS calls the Congress government's 'betrayal of the people.' According to reports, the party will organise a series of innovative programmes across the state for a week starting September 2. KTR called upon the entire BRS organisation to unite and ensure that the alleged failures of the Congress government during its 1,000-day tenure are taken to every section of the people across the state.

As reported by The Times of India, KTR directed party leaders to take the campaign to every section of society. The programmes, he said, should not follow a uniform format but be designed around the specific problems of each sector. The party will organise separate programmes for women, farmers, youth, students, Dalits, Backward Classes, tribals, auto drivers, government employees and pensioners, focusing on their specific grievances and alleged unfulfilled promises.

Allegations Against Congress Government

KTR said the Congress came to power after making numerous promises to the people, including 420 promises, 13 declarations and six guarantees, with assurances that these commitments would be implemented within 100 days. He alleged that even after 1,000 days in office, the government had failed to fully implement a single promise. This claim was reported by all four sources—ANI, Lokmat Times, The Times of India, and The Hindu—each quoting KTR's statement.

KTR further alleged that people across Telangana were deeply unhappy with the Congress government's administrative failures, corruption and misgovernance. He directed party cadre to explain to the people how the government had failed them and to highlight its policies and alleged irregularities.

'Baaki Cards' and Fee Reimbursement Dues

As part of the campaign, BRS will revive its 'Baaki Cards' to highlight pending financial assistance and benefits promised to agricultural labourers, senior citizens, women, students and youth. According to reports, the cards are intended to remind people of the amounts that have accumulated as pending payments under various schemes.

KTR specifically pointed to the alleged failure to clear more than ₹12,000 crore in fee reimbursement dues, a figure reported by ANI, Lokmat Times, and The Times of India. He directed party leaders to highlight this issue among students and their parents across colleges. The Times of India also reported KTR's allegation that the Congress government had failed to address the concerns of students and parents.

KTR recalled that BRS had already exposed the alleged betrayal of the youth through a meeting held in Saroornagar and the Yuva Sangrama Sadassu, as reported by ANI and The Hindu.

Party Mobilisation

KTR called upon BRS MPs, MLAs, MLCs, party general secretaries, constituency in-charges, former public representatives, former corporation chairpersons and former Zilla Parishad chairpersons to participate in the programmes at constituency, mandal, village and ward levels. He emphasised that the campaign should have a visible presence and not be symbolic.

According to The Times of India, KTR also asked the party's social media teams to use innovative campaigns to reach younger voters. ANI quoted him as calling social media a 'powerful weapon' to reach the younger generation.

Context

The campaign comes as the Congress government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy completes 1,000 days in office. KTR said the programmes should not be confined merely to the promises made by Congress but should also highlight the failures of the government after assuming office and the problems currently faced by different sections of society. As quoted by ANI, KTR said: "Not just the promises, but the failures of the first 100 days and how much of a failure the Revanth Reddy government has been from the very beginning must also be highlighted on a large scale."
