First interview since father's death

Kelly Osbourne has spoken publicly for the first time since the death of her father, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, describing the past year as the "hardest year" of her life. In an interview with Britain's HELLO! magazine, she candidly discussed her grief, the scrutiny over her weight loss, and adjusting to life as a single mother.

Osbourne, 41, said a part of her died when her father passed away in July 2025 at the age of 76. "I'll never be the person I was before my father died ... a part of me died, too," she told the magazine. "Everything is different. I'm different. Everything has changed, but it's just taking it one day at a time and putting the pieces back together in a way that you think will work."

Osbourne, who is known for her close relationship with her father, had posted on Instagram the day after his death: "I lost the best friend I ever had." At the time, she wrote, "I feel unhappy, I am so sad."

Addressing weight-loss scrutiny

In the interview, Osbourne directly addressed the intense public attention on her appearance following her weight loss, which prompted widespread speculation and body-shaming comments. Asked how she navigated the speculation, she said: "I didn't navigate it – I wasn't well. How can you navigate something so cruel when you're so sick?"

She acknowledged that she has been struggling but is now receiving help. "I'm getting a lot better," she said. "I've got all the help I need and I'm grateful for the support I have in my life."

Osbourne spoke about the importance of her support network, noting that grief can be isolating. "What you'll find when you're grieving is that people don't know how to handle it, and you do lose a lot of friends," she said. "But the ones who stick around are the real ones."

She also reflected on her ongoing recovery, saying she has a "lifetime of work" to do on herself. "It's one foot in front of the other," she said. "You've got to fix the head before you can fix the body. It's a slow process. It's going to take me a minute. I'm not going to be fixed in a day. This is a lifetime of work I've got to do and continue to do for the rest of my life."

Osbourne described therapy as helpful, saying, "It's great discovering things about yourself, and the reasons why I do certain things that stem from..." — the quote trails off in the published account.

Personal life changes

Osbourne recently returned to the UK with her three-year-old son Sidney, following her split from Sid Wilson, the former Slipknot member and father of her child. The couple had been engaged, but reports emerged that the engagement ended seven months after the proposal, as noted in coverage of the interview.

In the interview, Osbourne did not delve into the specifics of the split but spoke about the broader challenges of the past year. "I feel unhappy, I am so sad," she had posted earlier, reflecting the depth of her grief.

Her mother, Sharon Osbourne, has also spoken in her defense, saying Kelly "can't eat right now" amid the stress and mourning, as reported in the same coverage.
