A New Chapter for Jaz and Nesha

TLC's "1000-lb Roomies" returns for a second season on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT, reuniting best friends and roommates Jaz Wallace and Nesha Harris. The new episodes pick up after significant life changes from Season 1, including Jaz's weight-loss surgery and the health challenges that followed.

In an exclusive interview with Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Jaz teased what viewers can expect: "You can expect a lot of laughter, a lot of surprises, of course some tears. You can expect some healing. You can expect maybe a love interest. And you can expect some traveling."

Jaz's Recovery Journey

At the heart of the new season is Jaz's recovery from post-surgery complications, which included a stroke and serious weakness in her legs. When the season begins, she is bedbound. Jaz described her current state: "Currently I am immobile. I'm in a motorized chair. I am doing physical therapy to regain my strength back in my legs and basically regain the strength back on the left side of my body. I had a stroke, but it's going good."

She added that she is now at a point where she can stand, do weight shifting, and take one or two steps. "I'm just looking forward to continuing on this journey and gaining my mobility back," she said. "I'm not going to stop until I'm walking."

According to syracuse.com, in the premiere episode, titled "Mission Slim-possible," Jaz is six months removed from surgery and has an appointment with Dr. Nouri. The outlet also reported that tensions rise between Jaz and Nesha in the premiere.

Nesha's Own Crossroads

While Jaz fights to regain her health, Nesha is supporting her while also facing decisions about her own future. Nesha told Showbiz Cheat Sheet she is "just trying to navigate through life and figure out financially what my journey is going to be and still here trying to support Jaz as best as I can. We're traveling and doing new things. So it's going to be really exciting."

syracuse.com reported that Nesha is pursuing an event-planning business and hosting a speed-dating event, and that she is confronting difficult memories from growing up in a religious cult. Both outlets noted Nesha is figuring out her financial future and next career steps.

A Sisterly Bond

Despite the challenges, Jaz and Nesha's friendship remains strong. Showbiz Cheat Sheet described their relationship as a sister relationship with occasional disagreements. Nesha also helps with Jaz's 12-year-old daughter, Nana.

"The pair have tensions but their bond is strong," the outlet noted, describing the dynamic as "rock solid."
