Release Date Confirmed

Sun Pictures, the production house behindJailer 2, has confirmed that the Rajinikanth-starrer will release in theatres on October 15, 2026. The announcement puts an end to speculation that the sequel might be delayed due to possible reshoots.

The production house unveiled a new poster featuring Rajinikanth holding a gun, along with the release date and the tagline "Alappara Kelapparom," a catchphrase from the song "Hukum" from the first film. The date gives the sequel a Dussehra release, as it falls on a Thursday.

Addressing Reshoot Rumours

Recent reports had suggested that the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial might be pushed back because some portions may need reshooting, following chatter that Rajinikanth was unhappy with certain parts. Sun Pictures' clarification pushes back against that speculation and says the release plan remains intact. Post-production work is progressing as planned, with Anirudh Ravichander continuing work on the film's background score.

Sun Pictures had officially announced the October 15 release date in July, ending months of speculation about the film's theatrical plans.

Cast and Crew

Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with Nelson returning as director and Anirudh Ravichander composing the music. The sequel follows the success ofJailer, which emerged as one of Rajinikanth's biggest blockbusters.

The makers have already begun promoting the film with an announcement teaser and the song "Ala Bolelo." The cast includes SJ Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vidya Balan and others. Vijay Sethupathi is set to make a cameo appearance.
