'Irumudi' Box Office: Ravi Teja's Film Crosses Rs 50 Crore in India, Nears Rs 72 Crore Worldwide

Ravi Teja's latest Telugu action-drama 'Irumudi', directed by Shiva Nirvana, has made a resounding impact at the box office since its release on August 21, 2026. The film, which also stars Priya Bhavani Shankar, Baby Nakshathra, and Sai Kumar, has not only crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in India within three days but is also closing in on Rs 72 crore worldwide, according to multiple tracking reports.

Box Office Collections

The film opened with an estimated Rs 15.30 crore India net on its first day (Friday), and then saw a slight increase on Saturday, collecting between Rs 16.10 crore and Rs 16.20 crore, depending on the source. This represents a growth of about 5.2% to 5.9% over the opening day. After two days, the India net total stood at approximately Rs 31.40 crore to Rs 31.50 crore, with India gross ranging from Rs 36.45 crore to Rs 36.57 crore.

On Sunday, the film witnessed a significant jump, with estimates placing Day 3 India net collections at Rs 18.80 crore or Rs 19 crore, leading to a three-day India net total of Rs 50.30 crore to Rs 50.50 crore. The India gross after three days is reported as Rs 58.37 crore by some trackers, while others cite Rs 58.65 crore.

Overseas, the film has performed well, earning around Rs 13.50 crore gross in three days. This brings the worldwide gross to approximately Rs 71.87 crore to Rs 72.15 crore, according to differing reports. A report from NewsX noted that the film collected Rs 3.50 crore overseas on Day 3, while another estimate from THE WEEK suggested the overseas gross was around Rs 10 crore after two days.

Regional Performance and Occupancy

The Telugu-speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been the biggest contributors, generating approximately Rs 15.75 crore on Day 2 and around Rs 18.25 crore on Day 3. Karnataka added about Rs 2 crore on Day 2, while Tamil Nadu and other regions contributed smaller amounts.

Occupancy figures for the Telugu version remained strong, with Saturday recording an overall occupancy of 78.54%, and Sunday reaching 85.50% according to Times Now. The Tamil version, however, saw much lower occupancy of around 15% on Saturday.

Budget and Recovery

Reports on the film's budget vary, with some sources suggesting it was made on a modest Rs 35 crore, while others estimate around Rs 42 crore. Ravi Teja reportedly took a pay cut from his usual Rs 22-25 crore fee to about Rs 8 crore, and also agreed to a share of the Nizam theatrical business instead of an upfront fee. This arrangement, according to a distributor quoted by Deccan Chronicle, could potentially earn him Rs 25-30 crore from the Nizam region alone, significantly more than his standard remuneration.

The film was reportedly sold for around Rs 20 crore in the Telugu states, and distributors have already crossed the breakeven mark after three days, with the film collecting approximately Rs 29 crore share from the two Telugu states.

Critical and Audience Response

Reviews have been mixed. Some netizens praised the film as a "blockbuster" with a "power packed performance" and highlighted the background score by GVPrakash, while others called it a "routine plot with slow narration." The ETimes review noted that at its core, the film explores the kind of love that gives daughters courage and the kind of fear that teaches them to remain silent.

Despite the mixed reviews, the film has been particularly well-received among Ravi Teja fans, who have celebrated his return to form after a series of underperforming releases like 'Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi', 'Mass Jathara', 'Mr. Bachchan', and 'Eagle'.

Day 4 and Beyond

On its first Monday (Day 4), the film collected over Rs 11.90 crore across 2,733 shows, bringing its India net total to Rs 62.40 crore and India gross to Rs 72.50 crore, according to The Times of India. This marked a 37.4% drop from Sunday's Rs 19 crore, which is typical for weekdays. The Telugu version continued to dominate, contributing Rs 11.87 crore on Day 4.

As the film enters its first week, the sustainability of its collections will be closely watched, especially given the mixed critical reception and the varying figures reported by different tracking sources.
