Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has released a recruitment notification for 291 Generalist and Specialist Officer posts across various scales, according to a notification published on the bank's official website. The application window opened on August 29, 2026, and candidates can submit their forms until September 15, 2026, through the official IOB website at in.
The vacancies are spread across 14 posts, including Manager (Branch Management), Manager (IT), Senior Manager (IT), Manager (Credit), Senior Manager (Credit), and Assistant Manager (Security), among others, as reported by The Times of India. The bank has stated that the number of vacancies is provisional and may change according to its requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility requirements vary by post, with age limits and educational qualifications prescribed as of August 1, 2026, the bank said. For instance, candidates applying for the Manager (Branch Management) position must be between 23 and 33 years of age, hold a graduation degree in any discipline, and have at least three years of experience as an officer in a scheduled public or private sector bank, including at least two years in branch banking. For the Manager (IT) role, applicants must be aged 25 to 35 and possess specified educational qualifications and experience, as detailed by The Times of India. Hindustan Times noted that detailed eligibility criteria, including educational qualifications and age limits, are available in the official notification.
Application Fee and Process
Candidates are required to pay an application fee of ₹175 for SC/ST/PWD category candidates and ₹1,000 for all other categories, including OBC and EWS, as reported by both Hindustan Times and The Times of India. Payments can be made online using debit cards, credit cards, internet banking, BHIM, or UPI, according to Hindustan Times. Applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted, The Times of India reported.
Selection Process
Selection will be based on an online examination followed by a personal interview, the bank said. Candidates who qualify in the online examination will be called for the interview. Hindustan Times reported that there will be no minimum qualifying marks prescribed for the General Awareness and English Language sections for any post. The objective test will last two hours, with separate timing for each section.
Hindustan Times also reported minimum qualifying marks of 30% for reserved category candidates and 35% for unreserved candidates in the online examination. For every wrong answer, one-fourth of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted, while there is no penalty for unattended questions.
As per The Times of India, the final merit list will be prepared with 80% weightage given to the online examination and 20% to the interview. Selected candidates may be posted or transferred anywhere in India. For Junior Management Grade Scale I positions, candidates will be required to serve a minimum of three years after executing a financial service indemnity bond of ₹2 lakh. For Middle Management Grade Scale II and III posts, the bond amount is ₹5 lakh with a minimum service period of three years, The Times of India reported.
