A Birthday Proposal in Kingston

Usain Bolt, the Jamaican sprint legend and eight-time Olympic gold medalist, proposed to longtime girlfriend Kasi Bennett during his 40th birthday celebration at One Belmont in Kingston, Jamaica. According to multiple reports, the proposal took place surrounded by family and friends, with Bolt getting down on one knee, microphone in hand, before Bennett accepted.

Bennett, who wore a gold dress with silver sequin detailing, appeared stunned before saying yes, and the couple shared an emotional hug afterward. Photos from the celebration show Bolt presenting Bennett with a five-carat diamond engagement ring, though reports differ on its shape—some describe it as pear-shaped, others as oval.

Bolt and Bennett began dating in 2013 but kept their relationship largely private for several years. They went public around the 2016 Rio Olympics, where Bolt achieved the "triple-triple"—winning gold in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay—and finished the 100m in 9.81 seconds. At the time, Bolt told The Telegraph, "I'm not going to tell you who she is.
