Co-Leaders Emerge After Second Round

Hyderabad's Vishesh Sharma and Noida's Amardeep Malik share the halfway lead at 14-under 126 after the second round of the `1 crore Telangana Golconda Masters at the Hyderabad Golf Association. The 19-year-old Vishesh, competing in his second season on the DP World PGTI, followed his opening course-record 10-under 60 with a four-under 66 containing six birdies and two bogeys. Amardeep, a 41-year-old two-time winner on the DP World PGTI, carded a five-under 65 after a 61 on day one.

Both players had to adapt to markedly different conditions on Wednesday. "The course played very differently compared with yesterday," Vishesh said. "The fairways were much softer, the wind was considerably stronger, and the flags were tucked into more difficult areas. I had to adjust my strategy, aim for the correct sections of the greens and avoid chasing every flag." The local favourite, who had matched Manu Gandas' course record from 2022 at his home venue in the opening round, added that he was satisfied with his score despite the contrasting nines.

Amardeep admitted that his low opening score tempted him into playing more aggressively than the course demanded. "After shooting a low number, the natural instinct is to attack again. But this isn't a course you can overpower," he said. "Fortunately, I managed to make the most of my par saves, which is why I was actually happier with today's round."

Leaderboard Shifts

Dhruv Sheoran, who shared the opening-round lead with Vishesh, slipped to third at 13-under 127. The Gurugram golfer mixed six birdies with a bogey on the par-five eighth and a double bogey on the par-four 18th, his final hole of the day, in a three-under 67. Sheoran had earlier set the course-record pace with an 11-birdie 60, the lowest score of his career, and entered the week ranked 12th on the 2026 Race to DP World India Championship.

Delhi's Honey Baisoya climbed to fourth at 12-under 128 with a second successive six-under 64, making seven birdies and one bogey. Bangladesh's Md Akbar Hossain and Chandigarh's Angad Cheema shared fifth place at seven-under 133. Defending champion Jamal Hossain of Bangladesh improved from tied 72nd to tied 24th at two-under 138.

Notable Feats in the Field

Arjunveer Shishir, a 15-year-old from Panchkula, became the youngest player to make the cut on the DP World PGTI with a seven-under 63. Additionally, three holes-in-one were recorded on the same day during the second round, a first in DP World PGTI history: Abhinav Lohan and Anshul Kabthiyal each aced the par-three 11th, while Harman Sachdeva did so on the par-three seventh.

The cut fell at one-over 141, with 59 players from a field of 132 advancing to the weekend.
