Five Huskies to Make First College Starts in Apple Cup

First-Time Starters Named

Five Washington Huskies will make their first college starts in Sunday's Apple Cup against Washington State, according to the depth chart released Monday. Kodi Greene (offensive tackle), Dererk Colman-Brusa (defensive tackle), Ramzak Fruean (edge rusher), Champ Taulealea (offensive guard), and Quaid Carr (running back) are all listed as starters, as reported by Sports Illustrated.

Greene, Colman-Brusa, and Fruean are true freshmen making their college debuts. Taulealea and Carr played sparingly as freshmen in 2025, with Taulealea making five reserve appearances at offensive guard and Carr carrying four times for 14 yards in two games.

Veteran Replacements and Position Battles

Taulealea's promotion ends a two-season competition with seventh-year veteran Geirean Hatchett, who started all 13 games last year. The 6-foot-5, 345-pound Taulealea, from Milpitas, California, said his goal in fall practice was maintaining his weight and staying light on his feet.

Carr, a Riverside, California native, was elevated to the No. 1 tailback spot after Jordan Washington suffered a neck injury and was lost for the season. Carr had entered spring football as the second-unit back behind Washington.

Fruean, 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, was the last of the three freshmen starters elevated, with coach Jedd Fisch confirming the promotion a little over a week ago, according to Sports Illustrated. Greene, 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds, was the first freshman Fisch designated as a starter.

Other Depth Chart Notes

The two-deep chart, reported by the Spokane Spokesman-Review, lists freshman Jeron Jones and returning starter Rahshawn Clark as either/or at nickelback, and sophomore Baron Naone and junior Decker DeGraaf as either/or at tight end.

Naone, who impressed during fall camp and spring practices, earned the tag alongside DeGraaf, who caught 32 passes for 360 yards and two touchdowns on 705 snaps in 2025. Fisch praised Naone, saying he had a fantastic camp, caught the ball well, blocked exceptionally well, got bigger, and attacked the offseason.

Senior center Landen Hatchett did not appear on the depth chart and will not be available against Washington State, the Spokesman-Review reported. Kolt Dieterich, a Sam Houston State transfer, won the starting center job over sophomore Jake Flores, with Geirean Hatchett listed as the backup.
