Hunter Biden Discusses Sexuality in Podcast Interview
Hunter Biden, the son of former President Joe Biden, discussed his sexuality during a recent appearance on the "Luke Beasley Show" podcast, describing himself as "a little bit gay" and later joking about being "48.5 percent gay."
According to Us Weekly, the 56-year-old appeared on the August 17 episode of the podcast, hosted by Luke Beasley, who is openly gay. Early in the conversation, Beasley asked Biden, "Are you gay?" Biden replied, "Only a little bit." When Beasley followed up, asking whether Biden was "more or less than 50 percent" gay, Biden responded, "48.5 percent."
The exchange continued as Beasley asked Biden if Beasley would be his type. Biden said, "No, a little bit more masculine would be my type, if I was gay."
Later in the episode, Biden revisited the topic, saying, "I want to get back to the gay question. Maybe I'll take my 48.5 … to 48.7." He then corrected himself, stating, "I just wanted to let you know I'm back … to 48.5 percent gay."
The New York Post reported a slightly different figure, noting that Biden initially said "48.6 percent" before later saying "48.5." The Post also recounted Biden's later remark, "More like 47 [percent] after that conversation. My gaydom went down a percentage point."
Background and Personal Life
Biden, who is married to Melissa Cohen, has been open about his personal struggles and family history. According to Us Weekly, Biden married Cohen in 2019, two years after divorcing his first wife, Kathleen Buhle, with whom he shares three daughters. The New York Post added that Biden and Cohen married six days after they met. Us Weekly also noted that Biden has a son born in March 2020 with Cohen.
In her 2022 memoir, "If We Break: A Memoir of Marriage, Addiction and Healing," Buhle wrote about Biden's addictions and infidelities, as reported by Us Weekly. Biden has also spoken publicly about his sobriety, marking seven years on June 1 with a post on X, saying, "7 years sober today. Thank you to everyone who has walked this road with me," as noted by Us Weekly.
Previous Comments on Sexuality in Washington
Biden's recent podcast appearance follows earlier comments about sexuality in Washington politics. Us Weekly reported that on July 18, during an appearance on the "I've Had It" podcast, Biden said, "Everybody knows there is this closeted gay mafia, largely Republican, that exists in Washington, C." His comments were part of a broader discussion about closeted sexuality in the nation's capital.
