Hunter Biden Opens Up on Podcast About Father's Visits During Addiction

Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, detailed on the addiction podcast "Dopey" how his father would visit him during his crack addiction, arriving with a motorcade and Secret Service agents. The revelations, reported by Page Six and TMZ, paint a stark picture of a family grappling with addiction.

During the podcast, hosted by David Manheim, Hunter Biden recounted a period when he lived in a house in Washington, , sharing it with an unhoused person he called "Bicycles." He said he had asked Bicycles to sell him crack and teach him how to smoke it, and the person eventually moved in with him.

Hunter Biden told Manheim that his father visited him at this residence twice, knocking on the door directly. "My dad showed up. He literally showed up at the house twice, you know, and just knocked on the door," he said, as quoted by Page Six.

He explained that his father would call repeatedly before driving over with a motorcade. "He literally, you know, would drive over with a, you know, with a motorcade," Hunter told the host, adding that Joe Biden tried to make the motorcade "as small as he could possibly make it."

Hunter described hearing and seeing several SUVs pulling up, with his father getting out and walking to his apartment with one or two Secret Service agents. "I'd hear a knock on my door, and I'd open it, and, you know… there I would be, and you know [in] all of the obviousness of someone that was, you know, in distress," he recalled, as quoted by both outlets.

When asked what his father would say, Hunter said Joe Biden would ask about plans for the future. "'Please, like, what are we gonna do tomorrow? What's the plan?' And I'd say, I got a plan, and this is what it is," Hunter recounted.

Hunter also noted that his father likely met Bicycles during these visits. "I think he ran into her," he said when asked by Manheim.

Chateau Marmont Stay

Hunter Biden then described his decision to move to Los Angeles and stay at the Chateau Marmont for about two months in 2018. He told Manheim that part of the hotel's appeal was that it was where comedian John Belushi overdosed.

"I mean, I think I went more than anything because I was like, 'hey, might as well go out with a bang,'" Hunter said, as quoted by TMZ. He described the hotel as "100% like right out of a movie" and said he lived in one of the bungalows.

Reflecting on that period, Hunter said his stay at the hotel was an attempt at committing suicide "without having the courage to do it," a statement reported by TMZ.

Shortly after his father's visits, Hunter embarked on what Manheim called a "crack road trip" to Hollywood, according to Page Six.
