Manchester United's Deadline Day Plans: A Dream XI with a New Left-Back
As the transfer window edges toward its deadline, Manchester United are making a concerted effort to address the final gap in a squad that has already undergone substantial change this summer. With the midfield reinforced, attention has turned to the backline. United are hoping to bring in a new left-back to compete with Luke Shaw, and Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde has emerged as the primary target. However, a report from Fabrizio Romano, cited in the Daily Express, indicates that talks between the clubs broke down over the weekend because United initially sought only a temporary deal. The 22-year-old has fallen out of favour with Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick, making a move plausible, but United may need to reconsider their stance if they are to secure his signature permanently.
Beyond the left-back situation, the rest of the projected starting XI is taking shape. Senne Lammens, signed last summer, is expected to continue as the first-choice goalkeeper after a strong debut season. Diogo Dalot remains the preferred right-back, with Noussair Mazraoui providing competition. In central defence, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez are slated to form the partnership when both are fit. On the flanks, Bryan Mbeumo is lined up on the right, while Marcus Rashford, though recovering from injury, is expected to occupy the left wing once available.
