Haryana CM launches Mumbai investment outreach with Rs 66,000 crore MoU target

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday launched a three-day global capital outreach campaign in Mumbai, with investment proposals worth over Rs 66,000 crore expected to translate into memorandums of understanding during the investor summit scheduled from August 23 to 25. The campaign is part of the 'Happening Haryana 2.0' initiative, according to The Times of India.

Saini met Haryana diaspora families during the outreach, urging them to contribute as investors, mentors and partners in the state's development. "I have not come to you asking only for investment, but also for ideas and participation," he said, as reported by The Times of India. He urged diaspora members to mentor students and startups, support sportspersons, connect women's self-help groups with markets, and help Haryana products reach Mumbai and global markets.

Calling Haryanvis settled outside the state an "extended strength" and ambassadors of Haryana, Saini said the state's economy was expanding beyond agriculture into industry, services, technology, startups, logistics, education, sports and innovation. He called for stronger Haryana-Mumbai institutional links in artificial intelligence, fintech, media and entertainment, electric mobility, clean energy, sports management, agri-tech and global services.

Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh said Haryana was expanding its footprint in industry, IT, automobiles, startups, education, healthcare and services. Industries and Commerce Commissioner and Secretary Amit Kumar Agrawal said industrialists were integral to the state's development.

Saini also highlighted the government's focus on quality education, skills and employment for rural youth, and connecting farmers with technology, processing, branding and export markets. He described the outreach as part of a broader effort to position Haryana as a hub for modern investment, with the state's economy diversifying into multiple sectors.

The investor summit, running from August 23 to 25, is expected to see the formalisation of the investment proposals. The Times of India reported that the campaign aims to attract global and domestic capital, promote advanced industrialisation and strengthen Haryana's contribution to the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision.

Details from the extracts indicate that Haryana has 57% of its area in the National Capital Region, and the state has already received initial investment intentions worth over Rs 1.10 lakh crore. Additionally, fund managers and institutional investors collectively managing more than US$500 billion (approximately Rs 47 lakh crore) are expected to participate in a private equity and venture capital breakfast roundtable during the outreach, according to The Times of India.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Rao Narbir Singh, Amit Kumar Agrawal and other senior officials during the Mumbai visit. The two-day roadshow in Mumbai is scheduled for August 23 and 24, with the broader investor summit following on August 25. The Haryana Global Investors Summit is scheduled for April 2027, as per the reports.

The outreach underscores the state government's push to engage the diaspora as partners in development, beyond mere financial investment. Saini's appeal for ideas and participation highlights a strategy to leverage the expertise and networks of Haryanvis settled in Mumbai and elsewhere.
