Deal Completion

Groww Asset Management Company (Groww AMC) has completed a strategic investment deal with State Street Investment Management, the companies announced on Monday, August 31. The transaction, which received all necessary regulatory approvals, gives State Street Investment Management a 85% voting interest and a 23% economic interest in Groww AMC, as reported by CNBC TV18 and The Economic Times.

The deal was first announced in January 2026. State Street Investment Management is part of State Street Corporation, a global asset manager with expertise in index-based and ETF investing. The investment gives State Street a minority economic interest in Groww AMC while its voting interest remains below 5%.

Strategic Rationale

According to a press release from the fund house, the completed transaction brings together one of India's fastest-growing investment platforms with one of the world's largest asset managers. For Groww AMC, the partnership adds global, market-tested expertise across indexing, ETFs, systematic investing, macroeconomic analysis, and portfolio construction. For State Street Investment Management, the partnership provides access through Groww AMC to India's expanding wealth market.

Harsh Jain, Co-founder of Groww, said: "Our ambition is to build Groww AMC into one of India's most trusted and customer-focused asset management companies." Yie-Hsin Hung, CEO of State Street Investment Management, said: "India represents an important and strategic market for global investors."

The collaboration is expected to focus on areas including ETFs, indexing, systematic investment strategies, and portfolio construction. The partnership is expected to support Groww AMC's evolution into a broader asset management platform, with access to State Street Investment Management's deep investing expertise.

Expansion Plans

Groww AMC has been expanding its mutual fund business across active and passive investment products, including exchange-traded funds (ETFs), index funds, and fund of funds. Its passive products include funds tracking broad-market indices as well as sectoral and thematic indices.

Groww is also looking to expand its investment offering beyond domestic products. The company plans to establish a GIFT City platform to provide Indian investors with access to international investment opportunities. The proposed platform would allow Groww to offer products linked to global markets, subject to the applicable regulatory framework.

With the transaction now complete, Groww AMC and State Street Investment Management intend to deepen their collaboration across product development, distribution, and global market access.
