Google's Fitbit Air, the company's screenless fitness tracker, has reportedly been spotted on shelves in Indian retail stores ahead of its official launch. An X user posted photos appearing to show the device already available, with one seller reportedly pricing it at approximately Rs. 16,000. The images, shared online and first spotted by SmartPrix, also show the tracker in three colour options: Obsidian (black), Lavender (blue/purple), and Cherry (red). However, Google has not yet confirmed the retail availability or the exact colour lineup for India.
Official Launch Timeline
Google has officially confirmed that the Fitbit Air will launch in India in October 2026, alongside the Pixel 11 series and Pixel Watch 5. The company has not announced a specific launch date, official India pricing, or retail partners so far. The device was previously showcased at a Made by Google India briefing, where Google first announced plans to bring the tracker to the Indian market.
Pricing and Global Comparison
The Fitbit Air debuted internationally in May at $99.99, which roughly converts to Rs. 9,500 (about Rs. 9,400 in India). However, the price reportedly seen at the Indian retail store — Rs. 16,000 — is notably higher than the US launch price. Early listings on Amazon India had already suggested a steeper local price, with the black Performance Loop variant appearing at Rs. 17,380 and the pink variant at Rs. 18,490. The Rs. 16,000 figure falls within that range, but it remains unofficial and should not be treated as final, pending Google's confirmation.
Features and Hardware
The Fitbit Air is a screenless fitness tracker with a small 'pebble' design. Since there is no display, users will not be distracted by notifications throughout the day. It is built around an optical heart-rate sensor, a three-axis accelerometer and gyroscope, red and infrared sensors for SpO2 readings, and a skin temperature sensor. The device supports 24/7 heart-rate tracking, heart rhythm monitoring and AFib alerts, blood oxygen (SpO2) tracking, resting heart-rate monitoring, heart-rate variability (HRV) tracking, and sleep-stage tracking. It also offers automatic recognition for more than 140 activities, along with Cardio Load and Readiness scores. All data can be accessed via the Google Health app on a connected smartphone.
Software and Battery
Google is bundling a three-month trial of Fitbit Health Premium with the device, giving users access to the Google Health Coach experience along with Gemini-powered coaching tools. The tracker weighs around 5.2 grams on its own and about 12 grams with the band attached. It is built using recycled polycarbonate and PBT plastics, paired with a textile band and a stainless-steel buckle. Google rates battery life at up to seven days, and says a five-minute charge can deliver a full day of use.
Compatibility and Additional Variants
The Fitbit Air is compatible with Android 11 or later and iOS 16.4 or later. The newly surfaced retail images confirm that black and blue units are also headed to the Indian market alongside the pink variant. A limited-edition Stephen Curry version of the tracker is reportedly coming to India as well, though it has not yet been photographed in retail stock. In the meantime, the retail availability and exact India colour lineup remain officially unconfirmed, as do the final price and launch date.
