Fatal Boat Ejection in Florida Keys

A 52-year-old woman died and two others were injured after being ejected from a boat in the Florida Keys, according to officials. All four occupants of the 35-foot SeaVee were thrown from the vessel as it attempted a narrow turn toward a Florida Keys channel at about 4 p.m. Aug. 16, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) reported.

Dianelis Martinez, 52, died from her injuries, with her cause of death pending an autopsy. Two other passengers were transported to a hospital with minor injuries, though their identities have not been released.

Investigation Underway

The FWC is investigating the incident. Details, including who was operating the boat and the precise circumstances of the turn, have not been released. The agency said in a statement, "The FWC extends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends affected by this tragic incident."
