Inquest opens into Devon farmer's death

An 80-year-old farmer from Devon died after being trampled by a cow, an inquest at Exeter Coroner's Court heard on August 19.

The public hearing opened the inquest into the death of Jennifer Ann Uglow, who was born in Cornwall and had resided at West Balsdon farm, near Holsworthy. She was married and a farmer.

According to the inquest, on July 29 Mrs Uglow was identified as having multiple injuries and was admitted to Derriford Hospital after being trampled by a cow at her farm. The court heard that she was sadly unable to recover and died on August 8.

Her cause of death was given as respiratory failure caused by chest wall trauma.

The inquest was adjourned and will be heard at a later date.
