Filmmaker Priyadarshan has offered a glimpse into his next collaboration with Akshay Kumar, revealing that the actor will play a hunter in their upcoming comedy-thriller. The project, reportedly titled 'Wicked Sunny', marks Priyadarshan's 99th directorial and his ninth film with Kumar.
During an interaction with India Today, Priyadarshan was asked what audiences could expect from Kumar's character. Keeping details brief, the director said, "Akshay Kumar's character is going to be very, very interesting; I am making him play a hunter."
The film is being backed by Tips Films and is expected to go on floors in December 2026. An official announcement about the title is still awaited, according to reports.
The duo have previously collaborated on films including Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, De Dana Dan, and Khatta Meetha. Their recent reunion was in the film Bhooth Bangla, which received mixed to positive responses.
Meanwhile, Priyadarshan's upcoming directorial venture Haiwaan, a Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Oppam, is set to release on September 11, 2026. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles. Its trailer has received positive reactions, and the reunion of Kumar and Khan is being appreciated by audiences.
Haiwaan also features Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher, Rajpal Yadav, Sharib Hashmi, Rajesh Sharma, Manoj Joshi, Jisshu Sengupta, Pahal Chaudhary, and Naira Shah in key roles. According to reports, Mohanlal may make a cameo appearance in the film.
Akshay Kumar has several projects lined up, including an untitled film with Anees Bazmee, Golmaal 5, and Samuk. He is also part of a Marathi film, Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat, in which he plays Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
