Emraan Hashmi hails 'Awarapan 2' as his best work yet

Actor Emraan Hashmi has declared "Awarapan 2" his "best film yet," sharing a heartfelt note on Instagram as the sequel continues its theatrical run. The film, directed by Nitin Kakkar and starring Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi, was released in theatres on August 14, 2026, according to Lokmat Times.

In his note, Hashmi described the sequel as a "rarest-of-rare phenomenon" and an "unprecedented feat," reflecting on the journey of a film that struggled to find its audience two decades ago. "A film that didn't find its audience two decades ago returning with a sequel, determined to rewrite history at the box office," he wrote, as reported by both India TV News and Lokmat Times.

A theatrical experience

Hashmi called "Awarapan 2" an "emotionally charged action musical" made on a "stunning visual scale" with "incredibly diverse, timeless music." He emphasized that the film is best experienced with an audience in cinemas, writing, "This is a film I truly believe is best experienced with an audience, in cinemas."

The actor credited producer Vishesh Bhatt, the creator of the "Awarapan" world, for shaping the film. "At the heart of it all is Vishesh, the creator of the world of Awarapan. His vision and unwavering conviction shaped everything and everyone. I'm so glad we took the leap together and made this journey," Hashmi said, according to reports.

He added that being part of a film with such an "incredible cast, musical genius, and creative brilliance" has been "super special."

'My Best Film Yet'

Hashmi made his strongest statement about the sequel, writing in bold: "This is My Best Film Yet." He concluded his note by urging audiences to see the film in theatres, saying, "So before it's too late, go experience Awarapan 2 in theatres now. Feel the emotional roller coaster. Let the music take over. And celebrate it the way it was meant to be celebrated, Big Screen, Big Sound Cinematic Experience."

The sequel's release

According to Lokmat Times, "Awarapan 2" is the sequel to the 2007 film "Awarapan" and stars Hashmi, Patani and Azmi. The outlet reported that the original film did not find its audience when it released nearly two decades ago, a point Hashmi himself noted in his reflections.
