Emily Atack has announced she has married Alistair Garner in an "absolutely perfect" ceremony, as reported by ie.

The 36-year-old actress, known for her role as Sarah Stratton in the Disney+ series Rivals, shared the news on Instagram, revealing that she and her scientist partner exchanged vows "yesterday among close family and friends." In her post, she described the day as "absolutely perfect" and expressed disbelief that they would "do all that again in a few weeks time."

A childhood connection

Atack and Garner have known each other since childhood and reconnected in 2022cars. Their relationship has been in the public eye since Atack announced her engagement in July last year, sharing a photo of the couple cuddling with the caption: "It's Friday, I'm in love" alongside three ring emojis.

The couple welcomed their son, Barney James Garner, in the summer of 2024. Atack announced the birth on Instagram with the message: "We have a beautiful son. Barney James Garner. All my dreams have come true."

The wedding day

Photographs shared by Atack show the newlyweds walking through a crowd of guests as they were showered in confetticars. In other images, the couple is seen holding glasses of wine, posing in front of a classic car, and kissing. Atack wore a white dress and long veil for the occasion.

According to reports, the wedding featured a personalized McDonald's van serving McFlurries, a detail that was not revealed at the time of the ceremony itself.

Guests included known TV personalities who commented on Atack's Instagram post, among them Candice Brown, Nikki Sanderson, Jess Wright, Dee Koppang, Fearne Cotton, Denise Welch, and Vicky Pattison.

A second celebration in Spain

Atack's mention of repeating the ceremony "in a few weeks" has been widely interpreted as a reference to a planned second wedding event in Spain, a country she has a long-standing connection to. Atack has previously spoken about her love for family holidays in Spain and revealed that her family owned a property there, which her father sold a couple of years ago, though they still visit every year.

The second ceremony is expected to be a three-day event in Spain, according to reports. Atack previously teased a September wedding in an interview with Luxury London Magazine, in which she said she had "nailed it" and was getting married in September, adding that she enjoyed the planning process.

Children not invited

Ahead of the wedding, Atack revealed that children would not be invited to the day. Speaking on The Romesh Ranganathan Show podcast, she said: "We're being kind to our friends and making sure that people don't have to worry too much about paying for lots of things, but we have said no kids at the wedding, no children."

She added: "I'm surprised by how many people are happy about that. I thought I'd get a lot of people kicking off."

Background

Atack first found fame as a teenager playing Charlotte Hinchcliffe in The Inbetweeners and has since appeared on reality shows including Dancing on Ice and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!. Her mother, Kate Robbins, rose to fame in the early 1980s, appearing in the ITV soap opera Crossroads and finishing third in the 1980 Eurovision Song Contest as part of Prima Donna.

Atack has also clarified that she and Garner are "not related in any way," after speculation that they were cousins. Reports have noted that they are technically step-cousins because Atack's mother is the sister of Garner's step-mum.
