A Historic Run

Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" has achieved a 19th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, as reported by Billboard. This ties for the longest run ever atop the chart among non-holiday songs. The song first led the Hot 100 in February and has already set multiple chart records.

Billboard's report places the song alongside other crossover hits that dominated both country and pop audiences. "Choosin' Texas" and Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" both became country and pop crossover airplay hits, while Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road," featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, scored at pop and R&B/hip-hop radio. All three songs evolved into what Billboard described as streaming and sales monsters.

The only song historically ahead of them is Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You," which has dominated the Hot 100 each holiday season since the 1994 carol first reached No. 1 in 2019. Billboard noted that the holiday classic could add to its total after the season arrives again.

Sales Chart Dominance

On the recent Digital Song Sales chart, "Choosin' Texas" holds the No. 1 spot for a 15th week, according to Forbes. The song has now spent 43 total weeks on the tally since it first appeared in November of the previous year. Forbes reported that the track's 15-week run ties with Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" as the fifth-longest in the chart's history.

The Forbes report placed this achievement in historical context: "Old Town Road" spent 16 weeks at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart, "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Bieber held the top spot for 17 weeks, and BTS's "Dynamite" and "Butter" each logged 18 weeks.

"Choosin' Texas" sold just under 8,000 copies in the U.S. last week, as reported by Forbes. The No. 2 track, a duet between Madonna and Kylie Minogue called "Love Sensation," sold 5,100 copies, marking a career high for Minogue on this chart.

Crossover and Chart Records

"Choosin' Texas" is currently No. 1 on five Billboard charts: Digital Song Sales, Hot 100, Streaming Songs, Hot Country Songs, and Country Streaming Songs, according to Forbes. Langley has five songs on the Digital Song Sales chart this week, with four in the top 10: "Jaded" at No. 3, "I Can't Love You Anymore" at No. 6, "Be Here" at No. 8, and "You Look Like You Love  Me" at No. 11.

Both of Langley's albums return to their all-time peaks, as noted by Forbes. Elsewhere on the Hot 100, Taylor Swift's "I Knew It, I Knew You" takes over as the most-heard song on radio, while country holds the top four spots on the Hot 100, according to Billboard.

How the Charts Are Compiled

The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (including official audio and video) and radio airplay, and sales data, which reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers. Billboard also clarified that digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer sites are excluded from chart calculations. All charts dated Aug. 29, 2026, will update on Billboard.com on Aug. 25. The Bigger Picture

The sustained success of "Choosin' Texas" highlights how a song's longevity on the charts is now driven by crossover appeal and multi-metric performance, rather than relying on a single platform. Billboard has been tracking the longest-running hits on the Hot 100 since its archives began in August 1958, and Langley's record-tie is one for the history books.
