Kershaw Heads to the Broadcast Booth

The Los Angeles Dodgers are bringing a familiar face to the airwaves. The team announced that Clayton Kershaw, who spent 18 seasons with the franchise, will join the SportsNet LA broadcast for Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Kershaw will work alongside Joe Davis and Kirsten Watson for the series opener at Truist Park, with coverage beginning at 3 p.m. PT and first pitch at 4:15 p.m. PT.

According to The Athletic, Kershaw will only be on Tuesday's broadcast, with Orel Hershiser handling the final two games of the series. This will be Kershaw's first game as a color analyst for SportsNet LA this season, though he has already dipped into media work this year, serving as a sideline reporter for NBC.

The announcement generated plenty of excitement among fans on social media, with comments ranging from "Oh this is going to be GREAT" to "MY GOAT IS ON THE BROADCAST TOMORROW."

Kershaw's Legacy

Kershaw retired from Major League Baseball at the conclusion of the 2026 season, capping a career that included three Cy Young Awards, the 2014 National League MVP, and three World Series titles. He also earned 11 All-Star selections and led the majors in ERA five times, finishing with 223 wins, a 2.53 ERA, and 3,052 strikeouts.

His final season saw him help the Dodgers win their second World Series during his tenure, though he missed the 2024 postseason due to injury. Earlier this year, Kershaw represented Team USA in the World Baseball Classic before officially ending his playing career.

Reflecting on retirement in March, Kershaw said, "There's a freedom with retirement. If you don't want to work out, you don't have to. If your back hurts, it doesn't matter. If your arm hurts, it doesn't matter. You get to see a lot more stuff, be around for everything. So there's a lot of great parts. It doesn't take away from how special playing this game is, but there's a lot of really awesome parts about being home."

Big Series Ahead

The Dodgers enter the three-game set in Atlanta with an 80-52 record, holding a nine-game lead in the NL West. They are coming off a sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates, extending their winning streak to six games. Atlanta, meanwhile, has the third-best record in the National League, trailing only the Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs.
