Cuisinart grill brush recall expands to over 3.6 million units

The S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has expanded its recall of Cuisinart grill brushes, bringing the total number of affected units to more than 3.6 million. The original recall in July covered approximately 1.7 million brushes, and regulators added another 1.9 million units to the list last Thursday, according to NBC News.

Conair, which makes Cuisinart-branded grill tools, first recalled 1.7 million wire bristle grill brushes in July 2026. The expansion adds 1,905,805 more brushes, bringing the total to about 3,625,800 recalled units, as reported by Live 5 News WCSC and NBC News.

The recall covers brushes sold between June 2009 and March 2026, including models sold individually and those bundled inside larger grill-tool sets. The brushes were sold at Walmart, Burlington, TJ Maxx, and Ross, as well as online retailers including Amazon and Cuisinart's website.

Reason for Recall

The grill brushes are being recalled because small metal wire bristles can detach from the brushes and stick to the grill or food, posing an ingestion hazard and risk of serious internal injuries, according to the CPSC. Conair said it is aware of at least 54 reports where the bristles detached from the grill brushes. There have been at least three reports of people swallowing metal bristles and needing medical treatment to remove them from their digestive tract or throat, as reported by both Live 5 News WCSC and NBC News.

Affected Models

The newly recalled Cuisinart grill brushes have black plastic, stainless steel, and wood handles. Recalled model numbers include CGWM-024, CGWM-059, FCB-501, CGS-W18, CCB-134, CGWM-061, CB-395, CCB-3001, CGWM-077, CGWM-058, CCB-012/021, CGWM-060, and FBH-51, according to Live 5 News WCSC. Previously recalled model numbers include CCB-100, CCB-4125, CCB-5014, CCB-6450, CCB-8012, CCB-4114, CCB-W2, and CSBS-777.

Also included in the recall are Cuisinart brand wire bristle brushes sold individually and in sets before 2020. All Cuisinart wire bristle grill brushes are included in the recall, according to Live 5 News WCSC. The word "Cuisinart" is stamped on most handles, except for models FCB-501 and CCB-395. Some recalled brushes were also sold as part of larger grill tool sets, including the Premium Grill 10 Piece set (CGS-2010), 13 Piece Wooden Handle Grill Tool Set (CGS-W13), 14 Piece Deluxe Stainless Steel Grill Set (CGS-5014), and 20 Piece Deluxe Grill Set (CGS-5020).

Consumer Guidance

Anyone with an affected brush is being told to stop using it immediately. There is no repair option; consumers are instructed to discard the brush, according to NBC News. Consumers can contact Conair toll-free at 888-520-1304, weekdays from 8:30 m. to 6 p.m. ET, or file for a refund online at com/grillbrushes or through com under "Product Recalls."

Consumers have two refund options: a straightforward cash refund, or a credit to use at com worth the refund amount plus an extra 20 percent, as reported by NBC News.

NBC News also suggests considering bristle-free grill brush alternatives, such as GrillArt, a bristle-free brush, for those looking to replace their recalled tools.
