The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will close the registration window for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) September 2026 session today, September 1, 2026. Candidates who wish to become eligible to teach Classes 1 to 8 in government schools can apply through the official website at in.
The board has not yet announced the examination date for the CTET 2026 September session. The date and timing of the examination are expected to be announced soon. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the exam, which was originally scheduled for September 6, has been postponed, and the new date will be announced soon.
Registration window reopened
The CTET 2026 application window had initially closed on June 10. Following requests from candidates who could not complete their applications, the CBSE reopened the registration facility on August 25, as reported by The Times of India. Candidates who have already registered in the initial phase are not required to register again.
Application fee
Candidates belonging to the General and Other Backward Classes Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) categories have to pay Rs 1,000 for one paper and Rs 1,200 for both papers. Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates have to pay Rs 500 for one paper and Rs 600 for both papers, as per multiple reports.

- Click on the link to apply for CTET September 2026.
- A new page will open where candidates will have to register themselves.
- Once registration is done, fill the application form.
- Upload the required documents.
- Pay the applicable application fee.
- Submit the application form.
- Download and save the submitted application for future reference.
Exam pattern and structure
The CTET 2026 question paper will have 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying a total of 150 marks. There will be no negative marking in the examination, and candidates will receive one mark for every correct answer, as stated by The Times of India.
The exam comprises two papers: Paper I for candidates intending to teach Classes I to V, and Paper II for those intending to teach Classes VI to VIII. Candidates who intend to teach both levels must appear in both papers. Paper I and Paper II will have 30 questions each on Child Development and Pedagogy, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, and Language I and II, as per Hindustan Times.
The exam is conducted offline in pen-paper mode through two different shifts. The CTET serves as a national-level eligibility examination for candidates aspiring to teach Classes I to VIII in central government schools like Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), and schools under the administrative control of Union Territories, as reported by Hindustan Times.
