Europe’s current heatwave, described as the continent’s most severe ever tracked for the month of June, would have been “virtually impossible” half a century ago without human-caused climate change, according to a rapid attribution study released by World Weather Attribution on Friday. The international group of scientists said the extreme temperatures gripping much of Europe mark a dangerous trend that can only be explained by human-induced warming.
