CGHS Clarifies Fake Notice on Wellness Centre Closures

The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) has issued a clarification dismissing a notice that claimed its Wellness Centres would remain closed from August 27 to 31, 2026, due to the deployment of Medical Officers for NEET-PG examination duty. According to the Directorate of CGHS, the notice bearing the scheme's name and logo is unauthorised and its contents are false.

In a circular, the Directorate said that the notice was neither issued nor authorised by CGHS. The department made clear that all CGHS Wellness Centres will function as per their prescribed working schedule during the period in question. This assurance comes as a relief to beneficiaries who may have been concerned about access to healthcare services during these dates.

The clarification follows the circulation of the notice, which falsely claimed that centres would be shut for five days because of the deployment of staff for the NEET PG 2026 examination. The Directorate has emphasized that any deployment of CGHS personnel for official duties, including examination-related responsibilities, will be managed through appropriate administrative arrangements without disrupting services to beneficiaries.

Actions Directed by CGHS

As part of the clarification, the Directorate has directed all Additional Directors of CGHS to ensure that this information reaches all Wellness Centres and beneficiaries under their jurisdiction. They are also required to make necessary staffing and duty arrangements to maintain continuity of services. In addition, they have been advised to ensure that the unauthorised notice is neither displayed nor circulated by any CGHS office or official.

The directive also instructs that the unauthorised notice should not be treated as valid information, and all CGHS offices must adhere to this instruction. The Directorate has taken a firm stance on the misuse of the CGHS name and logo, stating that it views such actions seriously.

Public Advisory on Verifying Information

CGHS has advised beneficiaries and members of the public to ignore the fake notice and to verify any information related to the scheme through official sources only. These sources include the official CGHS website, the myCGHS 2.0 application, or the concerned CGHS authorities. The Directorate has also requested people to report any information about the source or circulation of the notice for appropriate action.
