Como announce Sanchez loan deal

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has joined Como on a one-year loan deal, the Serie A outfit announced on Tuesday. The 28-year-old Spanish international moves to Italy until the end of the 2026/27 season, with Como's statement on the club's website confirming the signing.

Sanchez was expected to leave Stamford Bridge after Chelsea signed Argentina's number one goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez from Premier League rivals Aston Villa. The 28-year-old joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2023 but struggled to convince during his time in London, and came under criticism following Chelsea's 3–2 victory over Fulham in their opening Premier League match last week, prompting new manager Xabi Alonso to turn to Martinez, who made his debut in goal on Sunday, just hours after his own signing.

Fabregas welcomes former Chelsea players

Como coach Cesc Fabregas, a former Chelsea midfielder, has been active in the transfer market, securing a reunion with Sanchez as well as previously bringing in former Chelsea centre-half Trevoh Chalobah, who signed with the club last month. Fabregas highlighted the qualities Sanchez brings to the team, saying, "Robert brings experience at the highest level and qualities that suit the way we want to play." He added, "We are very happy to welcome him to Como."

Sanchez, who has made over 170 appearances in the English top flight and received the Golden Glove during Chelsea's 2025 FIFA Club World Cup victory, is eager to start his new chapter. "I feel amazing, it's been a great welcoming. I'm very happy to be here, I will do my best to improve this team, I can't wait to get started," he said upon his arrival.

Como's busy deadline day

Como, who will make their Champions League debut this season, also announced the signing of former Everton and Juventus striker Moise Kean on transfer deadline day. The Italian international joins on a year-long loan with an obligation to buy, with reports suggesting the eventual transfer fee could reach €40 million. Fabregas praised the 26-year-old, saying, "Moise is an important player, he's already ready and experienced, but he's still very hungry and has plenty of room to grow."
