As of August 19, IRCC had held 49 Express Entry rounds in 2026 and issued 119,865 invitations to apply. French-language rounds account for 50,500 of those invitations across ten draws — more than 42 percent of all invitations issued this year. August has been the busiest month of 2026, with seven rounds held by August 19.
To qualify for a French-language round, candidates must have a valid Express Entry profile and demonstrate French ability at NCLC level 7 or higher in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, as measured on an approved test such as TEF Canada or TCF Canada. Transport sector professionals are also included.
Candidates with French-language proficiency have been identified as a priority group under the Express Entry categories, according to Yen News. The announcement, made via IRCC's official X account, confirmed that the government is actively seeking experienced workers whose expertise aligns with the country's current economic priorities.
