A fight between two men in a Beverly Hills alley on Sunday night turned into a deadly stabbing, according to police. The altercation occurred at around 11:40 m. in an alley in the 400 block of North Palm Drive, just south of Beverly Boulevard, where officers were called for reports of a disturbance.
When officers arrived, they found two injured men. One man was suffering from a neck wound and was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. The other man, described only as a Beverly Hills resident, was also hospitalized for injuries sustained during the incident.
The man who died has not yet been identified, and authorities have not released the names of either man involved.
Police told CBS LA on Monday that one of the two men involved in the fight produced a knife and a stabbing occurred. The circumstances leading up to the fight remain under investigation, but police said they believe the incident is isolated and that there was no one else involved.
Beverly Hills Police Chief Max Subin said in a statement: "Our detectives are conducting a thorough and diligent investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. The Beverly Hills Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of our community and holding those responsible for violence accountable."
The Beverly Hills Police Department received a report at 11:39 m. of two men involved in an altercation in the alley behind the 400 block of North Palm Drive, a residential area known as the Flats that sits east of Rodeo Drive and the Golden Triangle business district.
