The Partition drama Batwara 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and starring Sunny Deol, witnessed a significant decline in box office collections on its first Monday. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned just ₹2 crore net in India on August 17, marking a steep 72.4% drop from its Sunday collection of ₹7.25 crore. The film recorded an average occupancy of approximately 11% across 6,771 shows.

Despite the buzz, promotions, and a big banner, the film appears to be struggling to hold audience interest after the opening weekend. The sharp Monday drop signals a significant challenge for the movie, which is also facing tough competition from its direct rival, Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi.

Global and Domestic Earnings

As of Day 4, Batwara 1947 has grossed ₹40.20 crore globally. In India, the four-day net earnings reached ₹28.50 crore, while the domestic gross stood at ₹33.95 crore. International ticket sales added ₹0.75 crore on Monday, bringing the total overseas gross to ₹6.25 crore.

Competition with Awarapan 2

Batwara 1947 is significantly behind its competitor, Awarapan 2, which earned ₹9.25 crore net on the same Monday. The Emraan Hashmi-starrer has generated more than four times the Monday collection of Batwara 1947, indicating a stronger hold at the box office.
