Squad change announced

Australia has dropped opening batsman Jake Weatherald from their squad for the second test against Bangladesh, replacing him with fellow left-hander Matt Renshaw. The team issued a short statement on Tuesday confirming the change, with no other alterations to the 13-man squad.

Weatherald was out for 23 and 0 in Australia's nine-wicket loss to Bangladesh in Darwin, bringing his average to 20.36 in six tests dating back to his Ashes debut. The team cited his sustained run of poor form as the reason for the omission.

Renshaw, who plays for Queensland, last appeared in a test over three years ago against India in Delhi. He has revived his test career after a strong domestic season, scoring 499 runs in six Sheffield Shield matches at an average of 49.90.
