School Bus Overturns in Kentucky, Injuring 13 Students and Driver
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — At least 13 students and a bus driver were injured Monday afternoon when a school bus crashed and overturned in Bullitt County, according to authorities. The crash occurred near Lebanon Junction at the intersection of Wilson Creek Road and Old Boston Road. The bus involved was from Lebanon Junction Elementary School.
Bullitt Judge Executive Jerry Summers said several children on the bus sustained minor injuries. Eight students and the bus driver were transported to area hospitals. Five other children were taken by their families to local medical facilities. Emergency personnel cleared the remaining students and released them to their families.
The full extent of other injuries was not immediately known, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear addressed the incident in a message posted on the social media platform X, asking residents to join him in prayer. “Kentucky, we have some tough news. There has been a school bus accident in Bullitt County with multiple injuries reported. First responders and law enforcement are on scene and working quickly to transport those in need of care,” Beshear said. “We will share more information as available, but for now I’m asking everyone to join me in praying for all those affected.”
Authorities have not yet released further details about the conditions of those injured or the circumstances leading up to the crash.
