Retirement and Fatherhood Plans
Aaron Rodgers, the 42-year-old quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has outlined his post-football plans, which include starting a family with his wife, Brittani. In an interview with Adam Schein on SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio, Rodgers said, "I'm hoping that I have a pregnant wife by next [year] this time." He elaborated, "I'm hopefully going to be supporting my pregnant wife because we're going to start a family and I am not going to be making a lot of appearances or statements."
Rodgers, who has confirmed that the 2026 season will be his last, described his vision for life after football: "I'm looking forward to a life of quiet after 22 years in the pros and three in college and getting my body healed up and working on a family. That's what I'm looking forward to." He told Schein he is "definitely excited" about the prospect of fatherhood, adding, "I can't wait for that next chapter of life and all that that entails, and sleepless nights and crying babies and changing diapers and all those things. I'm looking forward to all of it."
Family Reconciliation and Marriage
Rodgers' comments come amid a period of personal change, including a reconciliation with his family after a years-long estrangement. He first mentioned dating a woman named Brittani in December 2024, and in June 2025, he confirmed they had married a couple of months earlier. In July, he shared photos from a family visit on Instagram with the caption, "Another bonding week. #fam." NBC Sports reported that the reunion followed more than a decade of distance between Rodgers and his family.
Rodgers has credited his wife with helping him rebuild those relationships. In August, CBS Sports reported that he gave Brittani "a lot of credit" for this shift. Rodgers said, "Having those conversations with my wife – that allowed me to open up to the possibility of coming together." He also mentioned enjoying his role as an uncle, saying, "I'm having a lot of fun being Uncle Aaron to my brother's kids. And the more I'm around them, the more I get excited and so does the wife about having some of our own."
Final Season with the Steelers
Rodgers is set to play his final NFL season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, working again with former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy. He confirmed during a May press conference that this season would be his last, telling reporters, "Yes, this is it." In a separate statement, as reported by the Washington Post, Rodgers said, "My next chapter in my life is fatherhood. We are not expecting yet, but I cannot wait to be a father."
