Release Date Shift
The makers of Arshad Warsi's upcoming dark comedy 'Jeevan Bheema Yojana' have set a new theatrical release date. According to ANI, the film is slated to release in theatres worldwide on September 4. Lokmat Times, however, reports that the makers announced the new date as September 5, sharing a fresh poster on social media to mark the occasion.
The film was initially slated to hit the theatres on August 28, but its release has been pushed back by a week. Outlook India reports that, according to an exclusive report by Deadline, representatives for the film confirmed the change, citing the need for more time to complete the final leg of the film's marketing and publicity campaign. Lokmat Times notes that the reason for the change is not known.
Plot and Cast
Directed by Abhishek Dogra, the film stars Arshad Warsi in a double role for the first time. The cast also includes Sanjeeda Shaikh, Vijay Raaz, Pooja Chopra, and Bijendra Kala in key roles. According to Lokmat Times, Sanjeeda Shaikh essays the role of Yojana, Jeevan's resourceful wife, while Vijay Raaz plays the mysterious Vinayak.
The film follows the story of Jeevan (Arshad Warsi) and his wife Yojana (Sanjeeda Shaikh), a couple struggling under mounting debt. After discovering Bheema, a stranger who looks exactly like Jeevan, they devise a plan to fake Jeevan's death to claim an insurance payout. However, their plan unravels when they realize that the man presumed dead has ties to a dangerous diamond-smuggling network. As reported by ANI, the plot involves two lookalike men whose lives become unexpectedly and dangerously intertwined, setting the stage for a chaotic tale of crime, deception, and dark humour. The film explores themes of greed, desperation, love, and the consequences of one seemingly perfect decision gone terribly wrong.
Production and Crew
The film is produced by Anshu Mishra under the banners of Star Beam Ventures Ltd (formerly BlueGod Entertainment Ltd), as per Lokmat Times and Outlook India. Outlook India adds that Nitin Khanna, Afsana Kherani, and Ramen Raheja serve as co-producers, and the screenplay was written by Mukta Bhatt, Vivek Verma, and Dogra.
Director Abhishek Dogra, in a statement reported by Lokmat Times and Outlook India, described the film as "a film about ordinary people making one extraordinary, catastrophic decision and then spending the rest of the film paying for it." He added, "The genre is dark comedy, but the heart of it is very human. Arshad brings both men to life with a precision that constantly surprised us on set."
A new poster for the film has been released to reflect the revised theatrical schedule, as confirmed by Lokmat Times and Outlook India.
