Amul tops dairy brand rankings
Brand valuation consultancy Brand Finance has ranked Amul as the world's strongest dairy brand, with its valuation rising 22% to $5 billion in a year. The announcement came as part of Brand Finance's Food & Drinks 2026 report, which assesses brand value and strength across the food and beverage sectors.
Amul's Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 93/100 and AAA+ brand index rating placed it ahead of all other dairy brands globally. It also ranked fourth among dairy brands and 13th overall in the Food 100 rankings, according to the consultancy.
The recognition highlights the growing strength of Indian food and dairy brands on the global stage. Alongside Amul, both Mother Dairy and Britannia recorded double-digit growth in their brand values, as reported by Livemint and NewsBytes.
Indian brands post strong gains
Mother Dairy rose to the 60th position in the Food 100 list, with its brand value climbing 22% to $1.4 billion. The company's BSI score improved from 70.6/100 in 2025 to 72.8/100 in 2026, maintaining its AA brand strength rating.
Britannia secured the 63rd spot, with a 17% increase in brand value to $1.3 billion and an AAA- brand strength rating.
Karnataka-based dairy brand Nandini also entered the rankings, achieving a brand value of $1.1 billion and ranking 71st in the Food 100 list. Livemint reported that Nandini's partnership with Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru gave it mainstream visibility, contributing to its growth.
Global leaders retain top value spots
Among global brands, Nestle retained its position as the world's most valuable food brand, with its brand value jumping 23% to $24.6 billion. Coca-Cola remained the world's most valuable non-alcoholic drinks brand, although its brand value dipped 1% to $46.1 billion.
Yilli, described as Asia's largest dairy company based in China, continued as the most valuable non-alcoholic dairy brand, with its brand value increasing 29% to $14.5 billion.
Brand Finance's report also noted that Nongfy Springs has overtaken Coca-Cola as the world's strongest non-alcoholic drinks brand, while Sadia ranked as the strongest food brand globally.
The report identifies health-led positioning, innovation, and portfolio diversification as key drivers of growth across the industry, according to Livemint.
How each outlet told it
A framing line is our reading of that outlet's own text — an interpretation, not a quotation and not a fact we assert. Check it against what the outlet published.
AI-extracted; can misattribute a claim — see Methodology.
Each row is one claim, attributed to the outlet whose wording states it most clearly. Confidence rates how directly the source text states the claim — explicit and unhedged rates high; hedged, pieced-together, or internally inconsistent statements rate lower. It does not measure whether the claim is true. Status is Contested when two claims on this page negate each other; otherwise it counts the distinct outlets we found asserting that specific claim — so a single-source claim can still show high confidence, and a multi-source claim can show medium. Every one of those outlets is named beside the status, so you can check the count against the list. For claims extracted before we began storing that list, the row says so: it names the outlet the claim is quoted from and states that we have not recorded which outlets backed it. Outlets wrote at different times, so a figure that evolves — a casualty count, for example — can legitimately differ between rows; check the "as of" time next to each claim's source.
