Amitabh Bachchan revealed an unexpected family connection with Saif Ali Khan during the latest episode ofKaun Banega Crorepati, where Saif appeared alongside hisHaiwaan co-star Akshay Kumar. In a promo for the episode, Bachchan told Saif, “Many people don’t know that he is in our relation,” prompting a surprised Saif to ask, “Me?”

Bachchan then explained that the two actors are linked through marriage, not by blood. The connection runs through the Kapoor and Nanda families. Bachchan’s daughter Shweta is married to Nikhil Nanda, whose mother, Ritu Nanda, was the daughter of legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor. Raj Kapoor was also Kareena Kapoor’s grandfather, making Nikhil Nanda and Kareena cousins. Since Saif is married to Kareena, his relationship with the Bachchan family comes through marriage.

Quoting Bachchan: “Raj Kapoor’s daughter, Ritu’s son Nikhil is married to my daughter Shweta.”

The revelation took a humorous turn when Bachchan asked, “So now I want to know how should I address Kareena? Kareena will call me what?” Saif replied with his characteristic wit, “Thank god that’s not a question (on KBC screen),” which made both Bachchan and Akshay Kumar laugh.

Shweta Bachchan married Nikhil Nanda in 1997. The couple have two children, Navya Naveli Nanda and Agastya Nanda.

Beyond the family connection, Bachchan and Saif have shared screen space inEklavya: The Royal Guard (2007) andAarakshan (2011). Meanwhile, Saif and Akshay will next appear together in director Priyadarshan’s upcoming psychological thrillerHaiwaan (2026), which also stars Saiyami Kher, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Boman Irani, Sharib Hashmi, Jisshu Sengupta, and Rajpal Yadav. The film is set for a theatrical release on September 11, 2026.
