Reliance Consumer Products Enters Ice Cream Market with Bombay Creamery Launch

Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the fast-moving consumer goods arm of Reliance Industries Limited, announced its entry into India's ice cream market with the launch of Bombay Creamery, according to company statements. The announcement was made on September 1, 2026, with some reports describing the announcement as occurring on Tuesday.

Bombay Creamery is positioned as an accessible premium dairy brand, with a focus on authentic dairy ingredients. RCPL stated that the products are made with real dairy cream, in line with the company's promise of "Global Quality at Affordable Price." The ice cream range includes cones, cups, tubs, bars, and sticks, with prices starting at ₹10.

T Krishnakumar, Director of RCPL, commented on the launch, saying, "We built Bombay Creamery around one simple idea that dairy shouldn't need shortcuts. RCPL is not just entering the ice cream category -- we're committing to it. Made with real dairy cream, Bombay Creamery guarantees the promise of genuine taste of a real ice cream every single time, at a price every Indian family can afford."

The company said the launch is backed by its national distribution infrastructure, retail scale, and consumer insights. Bombay Creamery will initially be available in western India, with plans for a pan-India rollout to follow. RCPL described the launch as reflecting its long-term commitment to the ice cream category.

According to an IBEF report cited in one source, the Indian ice cream market is valued at approximately ₹24,350 crore to ₹31,276 crore in 2025 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of over 11 to 14 per cent, reaching up to ₹63,941 crore by 2034. The market is dominated by players such as Amul, which holds around 40 per cent market share, followed by Kwality Walls and Vadilal. Havmor, owned by South Korean confectionery major Lotte, commands 9 per cent market share, followed by Mother Dairy with 6 per cent, according to some reports. Other players such as Arun Ice Cream, Cream Bell, Naturals, and Baskin Robbins compete in the higher-price segment.

The launch of Bombay Creamery is part of RCPL's broader expansion into FMCG categories, with previous entries including the beverage brand Campa. A separate luxury-positioned ice cream brand, Vantara Creamery, was launched in Mumbai in May 2026 under Reliance Foundation's wildlife conservation initiative led by Anant Ambani, but that venture is distinct from RCPL's FMCG portfolio.
