Aldi imposing strict three per person limit on shoppers from Thursday

Aldi limits Le Grand Poulet Rosé Magnum to three bottles per customer

Aldi is introducing a three-bottle limit on its Le Grand Poulet Rosé Magnum, a 150cl bottle equivalent to two standard 75cl bottles. The restriction will be in place from August 27 to September 2, when the wine's price is reduced from £11.99 to £9.99.

The move comes as the supermarket promotes the rosé as a summer staple. Aldi described the wine as "an elegant rosé [that] has already ruled the roost with shoppers and wine experts alike this summer," and highlighted its characteristics: "Delicate and pale peach-pink in colour, the wine boasts refreshing aromas of citrus fruits and red berries. This light, dry rosé is crisp on the palate."

The limit was reported by Birmingham Live, which framed it as a response to the product being a "sell-out," and by Liverpool Echo, which noted the wine's "viral" status without speculating on the reason for the cap. Aldi itself said the deal is available "while stocks last."

Wine influencer Sam Caporn, referred to as "Mistress of Wine" by Aldi, praised the magnum on Instagram, calling it a "gorgeous magnum" and "even more of a winner!"

Standard bottle alternative and store expansion

Shoppers who prefer a standard size can purchase Le Petit Poulet Rosé at £6.29 for 75cl.

In related news, Aldi announced plans to open 16 new stores across the UK in the coming months. The retailer currently operates more than 1,080 UK stores. Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said the company is investing £370 million in new stores this year.

Alongside the wine deal, Aldi is running a Superfam Pass giveaway, offering one household £800 worth of free shopping monthly for a year, totalling £9,600. The winning household will also receive Specialbuys worth £400, covering items such as toys, homeware, and garden equipment. Entries close on Monday, September 21 at 11.59pm, with the winner contacted by Monday, October 5, 2026.

Ahead of the August bank holiday, Aldi also shared its opening hours. Stores in England and Wales will operate from 8am to 8pm on Monday, August 31, while stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland will follow their usual hours. Based on data from last year's bank holiday weekend, the quietest times to shop are between 8am and 9am and 7pm to 8pm, according to Liverpool Echo.
