Title Reveal and Release Date
Ajay Devgn's third Hindi 'Drishyam' film has been officially titled 'Drishyam: The Conclusion,' as announced by the makers on Monday morning through a collaborative social media post with the actor. The title immediately raised questions about whether the Hindi franchise is preparing to end Vijay Salgaonkar's story, a detail noted by The Times of India. The film is scheduled to hit cinemas on October 2, 2026, as confirmed by multiple sources including Bollywood Hungama, Lokmat Times, and Outlook India. Outlook India noted that the release falls on Gandhi Jayanti.
The announcement came with a poster featuring a close-up of Devgn's eye and the logline "MERA SACH, MERA SAHI, SIRF MERI, FAMILY HAI" (My truth, my right, is my family only). Devgn shared the poster with a caption that read: "Har insaan ka nazariya alag hota hai… mere liye meri family hi sab kuch hai. #DrishyamTheConclusion in cinemas 2nd October." This poster was dropped on August 24, as reported by NewsBytes and Times Now, following a first-look teaser that hinted at Vijay's mindset through a voiceover.

Ajay Devgn will reprise his role as Vijay Salgaonkar, the character central to the Hindi franchise since its inception. Tabu returns as IG Meera Deshmukh, and Shriya Saran plays Vijay's wife Nandini, according to NewsBytes and Lokmat Times. The cast also includes Prakash Raj, Jaideep Ahlawat, Ishita Dutt, and Rajat Kapoor, as listed by Lokmat Times and The Times of India.
The film is directed by Abhishek Pathak, who also co-wrote it with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. Filming began in December in Goa, as noted by Lokmat Times.
Franchise Background and Success
The Hindi 'Drishyam' franchise is based on the Malayalam film of the same name, which starred Mohanlal. The original Malayalam story inspired remakes in several Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, as reported by Lokmat Times and The Times of India. The Hindi franchise started in 2015 with the first film, which collected around ₹110 crore worldwide, according to NewsBytes. Its sequel, 'Drishyam 2,' released in 2022, grossed nearly ₹342 crore worldwide, as per the same source.
NewsBytes also reported that the Malayalam 'Drishyam 3,' released on May 21, 2026, opened with approximately ₹43.37 crore and crossed ₹242 crore globally, making it the highest-grossing installment in the franchise. The Hindi version arrives five months after the Malayalam release, as noted by Outlook India.
Storyline and Malayalam Counterpart
Lokmat Times described the franchise's storyline as following a family caught in the shadow of a shocking disappearance. In the first film, a policewoman's son goes missing, and she threatens to destroy Vijay's family. In the sequel, set seven years later, the Salgaonkars have tried to move on, but unexpected circumstances threaten to unearth dark truths.
Jeethu Joseph, who directed the Malayalam 'Drishyam' films, clarified in an interview with the Times of India that the Hindi version will be based on his story, refuting rumors of a different storyline. He also discussed discussions with the Hindi makers about a simultaneous release, saying, "In this OTT age, they feel that releasing on different dates might reduce the film's impact in the other languages."
Meanwhile, the Malayalam franchise continues. Producer Antony Perumbavoor announced 'Drishyam 4' at the Mazhavil Manorama Awards, as reported by Times Now and The Times of India.
Ajay Devgn's Other Projects
Times Now also reported on Devgn's upcoming films beyond 'Drishyam The Conclusion.' He has an action entertainer titled 'Chauhaan,' set for release on October 1, 2027, and Rohit Shetty's 'Golmaal 5,' which features Akshay Kumar as a fresh addition to the cast alongside Arshad Warsi, Sharman Joshi, Kunal Kemmu, Shreyas Talpade, and Tusshar Kapoor.
