Delhi Lakshmi Yojana: Pension letters to be issued on August 26; CM Rekha Gupta reviews progress
The Delhi government is set to distribute official pension letters to eligible women under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana on August 26 at Talkatora Stadium, with the first payments expected to be credited directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts from September 1.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has been closely monitoring the preparations for the scheme's rollout. In a recent review meeting, she noted that around 8 lakh women have registered on the official Delhi Lakshmi Yojana Portal within 18 days of the scheme's launch, and more than 5 lakh applications have been submitted so far.
"The faster the verification process is completed, the sooner the cases will be disposed of, and the process of disbursing pensions to eligible women will also be expedited," Gupta said at a Delhi Secretariat meeting, where she reviewed the scheme's progress.
Gupta has directed district-level committees to expedite the verification of applications. She emphasized that these committees play an extremely important role in the scheme's success and asked officials to thoroughly scrutinize and monitor every application to ensure eligible women receive benefits without delay.
In a separate message on social media platform X, Gupta appreciated the enthusiasm among women for the scheme. "Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is about adding more financial strength, more confidence and more freedom to everyday life. The remarkable enthusiasm of women across Delhi shows how deeply this initiative has connected with their hopes. Their trust is our blessing, and our strongest motivation to deliver," she wrote.
Scheme details
The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, which came into effect on August 1, provides financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month to eligible women. According to the scheme's structure, ₹1,500 is deposited into a recurring deposit (RD) or fixed deposit (FD), while ₹1,000 is credited to a bank account linked to a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) wallet. The RD/FD portion has a lock-in period until July 31, 2029.
Eligibility and exclusion criteria
To be eligible for the scheme, a woman must:
- Be aged between 21 and 60 years
- Be the eldest female member of her family
- Have an annual family income not exceeding ₹2.5 lakh
- Be a registered voter in Delhi
- Have resided in Delhi for at least 10 years
- Have household electricity consumption not exceeding 2,400 units in the previous 12 months
Women who are excluded from the scheme include those receiving certain government pensions, income-tax payers, GST filers, government employees, public office holders, four-wheeler owners, applicants with more than three children, or those with a criminal record.
Application status check
Beneficiaries can check the status of their application on the official Delhi Lakshmi Yojana portal at https://dly.delhi.gov.in/. The process involves:
- Visiting the portal and clicking on 'Track Application'
- Entering mobile number, date of birth, and the captcha displayed
- Clicking on sign in to view the application status
Applications for the scheme remain open throughout the year, with the last day of each month serving as the cut-off date.
